The electronic register of citizens will not be applied on 22 March
The electronic register of citizens will not be applied at the first round of the Bashkan elections on 22 March. According to Valentin Cara, chairman of the autonomy’s Central Electoral Commission, in order to avoid fraud on the day of elections, the “Seçtim” (“Voted”) stamp will be applied on the accompanying sheet to the ID cards of voters after they express their electoral option.
“We won’t use the electronic register of citizens in order to avoid situations when a person voted at one polling place, and then went to another one or even to several more and voted again. In order to ensure the security of the electoral process, a special stamp will be applied on the accompanying sheets of the ID cards of the citizens that exercise their right to vote,” Valentin Cara said. // gagauzinfo.md
