Elections for General Mayor of Chisinau municipality of July 10 and 24, 2005
The new and repeat elections for mayor of Chisinau held in the summer of 2005 were invalidated because of low voter turnout. Only 27.05% of eligible voters cast their ballots in the new elections of June 10, and 19.8% — in the repeat elections of July 24, while a minimum of one third of the eligible voters must participate to validate elections. As consequence, the Central Electoral Commission decided to set new elections for mayor of Chisinau on November 27, 2005.
