Three potential candidates
Three potential contestants have submitted documents for registration as candidates for the position of the Chisinau municipality mayor:
- Gheorghe Sima, the representative of Labor Union “Patria-Rodina”. During the elections of July 10, 2005, Gheorghe Sima accumulated 0.5% of votes (783 votes). He didn’t participate in the repeted elections held on July 24.
- Vasile Ursu, the interim-mayor of Chisinau. In order to be registered as independent candidate he has to gather at least 10 thousand signatures in his support.
- Oleg Cernei, councilor in the Chisinau municipal council from “Our Moldova” Alliance. Oleg Cernei submitted the document for registration as representative of Ecologist Party “The Green Alliance”.
