Suspected PCRM candidate withdraws from CMC

Anatolie Tofan, PCRM member of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), has stated that both he and the PCRM was the target of a dirty and base assault aimed to poison and manipulate the public opinion and to denigrate the PCRM team and candidate who ran for the seat of mayor-general of Chisinau municipality. In a move to protect the image of the PCRM and its team, Tofan decided to tender his mandate, but has plans to sue the persons who seriously hit his honour and dignity.

Note: PL councillors said during the electoral campaign for the local runoff vote that Anatolie Tofan raped and killed a 12-year-old girl 23 years ago and was sentenced to a 10-year jail term. Tofan rejected the accusations at the beginning, but some documents and testimonies by relatives of the victims confirmed them lately.
