The capital’s General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has filed documents to the Electoral Council of Electoral District no. 1 of Chisinau in order to run for a new term as head of the mayor’s office. “I’ve seen no relevant counter-candidates for Chisinau mayor. The Democratic Party of Moldova has filed documents for general local elections
The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has filed documents to the Electoral Council of Chisinau Electoral District to register its candidate for capital’s mayor, Monica Babuc, and its candidates for Chisinau Municipality Council in the electoral race to the elections of 14 June 2015. Ilan Shor runs for mayor’s office in Orhei from the “Ravnoprovie (Equality)” Movement
Businessman Ilan Shor runs for mayor of Orhei from the “Ravnopravie (Equality)” Movement. According to a statement for the press, the necessary number of signatures to independently run for mayor had been gathered in a single day, but the businessman believes that he will manage to do more together with a team. “Where there’s one, there’s no power. To realize the ambitious plan that I’ve set for myself, I need a team in the town council. That’s why I am running for mayor from the Ravnopravie party,” the statement says. Ilan Shor claims that he knows how to transform Orhei into a prosperous city; that he does not want the mayor’s seat for profit, but will come to invest into the city; and that while everyone talks about Europe, he will build it in Orhei. // IPN
The PPRM has registered its list of candidates for municipality councilors
The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) has filed to the Electoral Council of Chisinau Electoral District its list of candidates for councilors in the Chisinau Municipality Council (CMC) in the local elections of 14 June 2015. The event was attended by Mihail Cirlig, PPRM candidate for general mayor of Chisinau municipality.
The OSCE Mission to monitor the general local elections
The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights has announced about the start of work of the General Local Elections Observation Mission in Moldova. The announcement has been made by head of the Mission, Kimmo Kiljunen. “Observers will watch over compliance of local elections with international standards for democratic elections. They will monitor the procedure of registration of candidates, campaign activities, the work of electoral bodies and state structures,” Kiljunen said. The OSCE will prepare a preliminary report at about two weeks before the elections of 14 June and will present preliminary conclusions the day after the elections. Two months after elections the Mission will present a summary report, which, if necessary, will contain recommendations on how to improve the electoral process in the future. // Infotag
The Electoral Council of Balti has closed the registration of candidates for mayor
Ten political parties and an electoral bloc have filed the documents of their candidates for mayor of Balti municipality. Eight of the candidates have already been registered for the electoral competition, and the District Electoral Council of Balti will announce its decision on the other three not later than on 21 May. In case all candidates’ files are accepted, the ballot for mayor of Balti municipality will look as follows:
