At a press conference, the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) presented its first report on monitoring mass media during the electoral campaign for the general local elections in Moldova. According to the report, the majority of analyzed mass media have failed to ensure pluralism of opinions and have been promoting the political agenda and candidates of certain political entities.
The IJC report also shows that in the period of 1–14 May 2015 the majority of materials on controversial topics failed to ensure balance in the presentation of conflicting parties. Monitored mass media did not provide voter education and did not ensure balance in terms of gender equality.
The report presented conclusions after the monitoring of 5 televisions, 4 of which are with national coverage, and of 5 online portals. // adevarul.md
