ODIHR observers noted that the local elections took place in a calm and orderly manner

OSCE/ODIHR observers find that the general local elections of June 14 in Moldova were active and generally free, although their coverage in the media was politically influenced. Head of the election observation mission Kimmo Kiljunen said about it at a press conference in Chisinau. “The local elections were managed efficiently and voters were offered a diverse choice. The elections took place in the context of political turmoil caused by a massive financial scandal and resignation of prime minister two days before the elections. The atmosphere of the electoral campaign was strongly affected by the division of political forces and of society in terms of the future orientation of the country,” the expert said. // Infotag
