The representatives of the Promo-LEX Association underlined that, in its current version, the Electoral Code has some deficiencies concerning the conduct of the second round of local elections. “It isn’t clear when contestants can start campaigning, who are the actors that can do electoral campaigning, or when we can start spending on the campaign. There is a problem related to the storage of electoral lists, because the same lists are used in the second round. The elections of mayor for Ermoclia village in Stefan Voda district have been invalidated by a court decision. The Central Electoral Commission Chairman Iurie Ciocan mentioned that it is an absolutely normal process. “The number of electoral bureaus that need a recounting of votes is growing. So far, recounting confirmed the results, with some small exceptions,” Ciocan said. Elections were also annulled in Topala village of Cimislia district because on June 14 voting was stopped after the electoral bureau was vandalized by about 20 candidates for membership in the local council. // TRM
