Democrats request recounting of votes in several localities

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) requested votes to be recounted for the mayor of Topala village in Cimislia district, where repeated elections took place last Sunday. The party’s candidate in this locality needed one single vote more to win the elections in the first round. The PDM also filed an application to court to recount ballots in the town of Nisporeni and in the village of Visniovca in Cantemir district, where the difference of the votes gathered by candidates was 10 votes and one vote, accordingly. The party is to challenge in court the results of the second round in the town of Ialoveni, as well. // publika.md

Civil society: Local elections were free and partially correct

Compared with the local elections of 2011 and with the parliamentary elections of 2014, the legal and regulatory framework governing the electoral process has improved, allowing the elections of June 14(28) to be free. At the same time, the use of administrative resources, electoral gifts and biased coverage of the electoral campaign show that the elections were only partially correct. This opinion is shared by the civil society organizations within the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections. // IPN
