Biographical Data

Tataru Tudor Stefan was born on the 1st of April, 1957 in Pojoreni village, Ialoveni district, in a family of peasants. He finished the driver’s and tractor-driver’s courses, the Cultural Illumination School “Elena Sirbu” from Soroca, the Institute of Arts from Chisinau, the Highest School of Script-Writing and Film Production from Moscow.

1995–1977 — military service in the Soviet Army. 1989 — beginning of the creation activity in cinematography. 1989–1992 — chief producer at the Studio “Moldova-film”. 1992–1996 — general director and prime-producer of Folklore Film and Comedy Studio “Buciumul”. At present — general director and prime-producer of the Association of Creation “Buciumul”.

Tudor Tataru is the author of many artistic and documentary films, member of Film-Makers’ Union, Theatre Society, Musicians’ Union and Folklorists’ Union, he is as well the President of Humorists’ Union and of the Aviation Club from Chisinau. He has been awarded at numerous national and international festivals and competitions.

Married, father of three children.
