Protest rally of opposition parties PL, PLDM and AMN

The Liberal Party, Liberal Democratic Party and “Moldova Noastra” (Our Moldova) Alliance organised a protest against communist repressions on children and citizens of Moldova in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on April 12, 2009. The meeting brought together more than 10,000 people from nationwide. All those who addressed the meeting condemned the repressive actions taken by Voronin’s regime, the arrests and ill-treatments faced by young people after the April 7 developments. As well, it was noted that the April 5 parliamentary elections were a fraud and their results were falsified. This massive fraud has triggered the spontaneous protests by young people on April 6 and 7. But their natural and peaceful revolt was redirected by special services controlled by the communist authorities, which used provokers to vandalise the Presidency and Parliament buildings. Leaders of the three parties have unanimously assessed the developments and blamed the Voronin regime for the crimes committed against own people. Mihai Ghimpu, Vlad Filat and Serafim Urechean committed themselves to accomplish the investigation of electoral frauds and inform the national and international public opinion in this regard. Relatives of those who were arrested, ill-treated and went missing were invited to call on the three parties for the necessary assistance. Given the fact that the governing-controlled media misinforms people, the participants in the meeting were asked to tell the truth about the election fraud, the April 7 developments and the further terror. Academician Mihai Cimpoi has presented the Appeal by the Moldovan Union of Writers to European organisations. Participants in the meeting adopted a resolution which urges the communist governing to stop the terror, respect the human rights, and called upon Moldova’s population to resist to intimidations and protect trustfully the democratic and European values. The protest took place in a peaceful manner.

Resolution on governance’s repressive actions adopted by the protest rally

The Liberal Party, Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova and “Moldova Noastra” Alliance blame the communist governance for crime against state and people and note that it will carry all responsibility… The terror and violence are ordered by the top leadership of the communist governing: Vladimir Voronin, Marian Lupu, Zinaida Greceanii. Their public actions and positions split the society. The lists of arrested people released by police bodies are incomplete, as those arrested are ill-treated and tortured at police departments and the young people who suffered the most are not part of those lists. At the same time, the communist governing uses the public TV and radio stations to misinform and manipulate people regarding the truth of the recent events, to accuse the opposition parties. All responsibility for the nationwide terror rests with the Party of Communists and its heads — Vladimir Voronin, Marian Lupu, Zinaida Greceanii. In conclusion, the Liberal Party, Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova and “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, consider that the Republic of Moldova faces an unprecedented phenomenon: a complete violence system is being applied with the participation of all security bodies and judiciary institutions of the state to introduce a general terror and insecurity climate in society and it must be called state terrorism. Given these facts, us, participants in the meeting organised by the Liberal Party, Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, we urge the communist governance to take the following actions emergently: As well, we ask the opposition parties to request the European Union, the Council of Europe, and the United States to get involved emergently in order to stop the illegal arrests, beating, torture and all abuses committed by the communist governing against young people, journalists, own people. We call upon Moldova’s citizens not to let the communist terror intimidate them, to protect their rights decisively in a peaceful and civilised manner and trust in the victory of the democratic and European values.
