PCRM starts running the campaign

Within the meeting of republican core group, the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) has launched the party’s electoral program. The communists say they are ready to “enter into the fight for power and to take it”. The PCRM electoral program is titled “Moldova chooses Victory!” and is focused on three priority directions: social reconstruction, economic modernization, state security and civic unity. It will launch its campaign once the Central Electoral Commission registers the party. (source: PCRM)

Congress of the “Anti-mafia Movement”

Joint Congress of the “Anti-mafia Movement” and the Party for Nation and Country (PpNT) was held in Chisinau with the participation of about 600 delegates. According to the leader of “Anti-mafia Movement”, Sergiu Mocanu, they will not fight back if some liberal parties will attack them. At the same time, the Democratic Party of Moldova and Moldovan Party of Communists are declared enemies and adversaries. Speeches within the Congress were referring to the struggle with mafia and accusations against the businessman Vladimir Plahotniuc. “Anti-mafia Movement” and PpNT promised their voters a very strident and noisy campaign.

A parallel electoral campaign in ATU Gagauzia

In ATU Gagauzia the elections were announced for the office of the autonomy’s Governor, which will take place on December 12, 2010, the most of campaign is superimposed with the campaign for early parliamentary elections. The Congress I of the Movement “Yedinaya Gagauzia (United Gagauzia)”, which took place on 9 October 2010, decided to propose as a candidate for governor position the current holder of that office, Mihail Formuzal. Before being appointed, Formuzal took stock of his work for nearly four years of office and expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation within local administration, where manifestations of protectionism are still present.
