AMN appeals against the PUM’ religious spot, and PUM appeals against AMN’ “sun”

Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) will request the Central Electoral Commission to ban the broadcasting of electoral spot of the Humanist Party of Moldova (PUM), where the party leader, Valeriu Pasat, appears with his family on the background in front of the Nativity Cathedral. AMN deputy Chairman, Leonid Bujor, says that by using religious images the church would be involved in politics, and the Bell Tower which appears in the spot was erected during the period when the AMN leader, Serafim Urechean, was the mayor of Chisinau. In reply, the PUM representative, Dumitru Ciubaşenco, says the Bell was built from the budgetary funds and does not belong to AMN leader, and PUM has a document from the Moldovan Metropolitan Church stipulating that the Bell Tower’s symbol can be used. PUM representative adds that following the same logic, AMN and could be banned from using the sun symbol, because it “does not belong to AMN, it belongs to everyone”.
