Five other candidates for the President of the Republic of Moldova have asked the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to register the initiative groups that would support them:
- Vadim Brinzan, independent candidate;
- Inna Popenco, nominated by the “Ravnopravie” Socio-politic Movement;
- Silvia Radu, independent candidate;
- Mihail Garbuz, nominated by the “Patriots of Moldova” Party;
- Anatol Plugaru, independent candidate.
According to the law, within 3 days from the receipt of the documents submitted, the CEC will check their accuracy and decide on registration or refusal of registration of initiative groups.
The candidate of the European People’s Party of Moldova, Iurie Leanca, filed a complaint to the the Central Electoral Commission calling to sanction the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova and destroy their leaflets with the message “Romanian gendarme will not be in our master!”. According to the EPPM message, the socialists promote a topic that incites hatred and division in Moldovan society, propagating fear and trying to induce people a feeling of hatred against Romania.
