CEC have reacted on the identification of deceased persons in SRV
According to a press release from the CEC, the institution took action following the information in the press (rise.md investigation “Graveyard of the electoral rolls”) on the presence in the State Register of Voters of deceased persons and initiated an internal control procedure to check the data contained in the registry.
According to the CEC, it was found that checks conducted by the rise.md journalists were based on an outdated voter registration in SRV. The online application on the website of the Commission does not reflect the current situation, it contains information about the voter lists after the previous elections. Currently, only 3 of the 100 names presented to the public continue to be found in the SRV.
CEC reiterates its call to all institutions involved in the registration and documentation of the population: local government, civil registration offices, and CRIS “Registru” to strengthen their efforts to update the data on Moldovan citizens.

Oleg Brega withdrew from the electoral race
Civic activist, Oleg Brega announced in a video message posted on a social network that he withdraws from the race for the presidential elections of October 30, 2016. “I heard that Marian Lupu is the first one to be on the ballot. It’s impossible to collect signatures in three hours, if you have received subscription lists on Friday at 14:00 and all mayoralties close at 17:00. Where from did Marian Lupu got all necessary stamps on Friday night and Saturday, if we admit that the collected signatures? I find it inadmissible, the presidential elections are flawed, and therefore I declare myself defeated, I do not want to compete in such conditions and with such competitors”, said Oleg Brega.
