3570 citizens pre-registered online to vote on October 30

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that 3570 Moldovan citizens residing abroad have pre-registered online to participate in presidential elections. This information will be sent to the Government for deciding on opening additional polling stations outside diplomatic missions and consular offices. It will also be taken into account the number of voters who participated in the previous elections.

CEC warns that citizens eligible to vote can pre-register online no later than 40 days before the presidential election, given that under the Electoral Code, the establishment of polling stations should be decided at least 35 days before the voting day.

PDA requests the extension of pre-registration deadline for voters abroad

“Dignity and Truth” Platform (PDA) appeals to the CEC to extend the deadline for registration of citizens living abroad. PDA also calls on the Commission to open polling stations according to the number of the pre-registered citizens and install a publicly accessible meter which would indicate on-line the number of registered voters. // Unimedia

Vasile Tarlev: local authorities block the collection of signatures

Former Prime Minister, Vasile Tarlev, potential independent candidate, said that some representatives of the local authorities block the process of collecting signatures for potential candidates. “I’m very sorry, but in the process of collecting signatures serious violations are registered. In some cases, mayors take the lists from previous elections and require people to sign up for a particular candidate. In other cases the signatures and personal data collected are thoroughly checked”, Tarlev said. // IPN

Expert: Transnistrian voters can not vote consciously

The inhabitants of Transnistrian region do not vote consciously most of the time because they are not well informed, said Ion Manole, president of Promo-LEX. “The electoral candidates do not have the possibility to advertise on the left bank, people do not have access to the information sources in Chisinau and have no way to learn about the candidates. Tiraspol should accept candidates from Chisinau, but not allowing political advertising of those in Moscow only,” Manole said. // IPN
