Inna Popenco was registered as a candidate for president

The candidate designated by the Social-Political Movement “Ravnopravie”, Inna Popenco, was registered by CEC as a candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova. The Commission registered her electoral symbol, confirmed her representative with advisory voting right and the person in charge of campaign’s finances.

PDM reconfirms the correctness of petitions submitted in support of Marian Lupu

According to a press release, the Democratic Party says it is concerned about CEC detection of deceased persons in the subscription lists submitted by different candidates enrolled in the presidential race. PDM confirmed publicly that in the petitions submitted in support of its candidate Marian Lupu was not detected any such case. In this context, the political party renewed its call for a fair and transparent electoral process.

CEC invites candidates and media outlets to sign a Code of Conduct

Central Electoral Commission invited candidates and media outlets to sign the Code of Conduct on electoral coverage for presidential elections of October 30, 2016. The document can be signed until September 30, 2016, in the office 308, CEC headquarters (mun. Chisinau, 119 V. Alecsandri street). The Code of Conduct is an agreement between candidates and media representatives on how to conduct electoral campaign and how to ensure objective and non violent coverage of the campaign.

The government has decided to open 100 polling stations abroad

The government approved the decision on the opening of 100 polling stations abroad for the presidential elections of October 30, 2016. 40 polling stations will be open in the Moldovan diplomatic missions and other 60 stations outside them.

Most polling stations will be opened in Italy — 25, Romania — 11, Russian Federation — 8 US — 7. Also, six polling stations will be opened in France, four in Portugal and Spain, three in Canada and Turkey. In Britain, Israel, Greece, Ukraine and Germany will open two sections/country. In Ireland, Belarus, China, Czech Republic, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Qatar, Monaco and Japan will open one polling station/country. // IPN

Mihai Ghimpu: a “Council of Sages” will prepare the unification

Mihai Ghimpu, PL candidate for president, spoke about his priorities if elected president. “The main task of my presidential mandate will be to prepare and do the unification. In my capacity of President I will promote this project, and during the parliamentary elections of 2018 Moldova will have a unionist majority in Parliament. The first decree as President will be on establishing a «Council of Sages», following the German model, composed of 100 personalities from Romania, Moldova and other Euro-Atlantic countries that will work close with the Presidency of Moldova and prepare unification and all its components: legal, economic, political, security, social, cultural etc. Everything will be done in accordance with international law and the existing precedents.
