The preliminary results of the presidential elections of 30 October
a second round of the presidential elections will be held, given the fact that no candidate received at least half of the votes in the first round. After processing 99.47% of the protocols in the October 30 presidential election, Igor Dodon received most of the votes — 48.22% and Maia Sandu — 38,43%. These candidates were followed by Dumitru Ciubasenco, who garnered 6.03% of votes, Iurie Leanca — 3.11%, Mihai Ghimpu — 1.8%, Valeriu Ghiletchi — 1.08%. Independent candidate Maia Laguta received 0.75% and Silvia Radu — 0.4% of votes. Ana Gutu, the candidate of the Party “Right” received the fewest votes — 0.17%. According to the electoral law, the results will be final when the Central Election Commission will receive all the original election documents.

Igor Dodon: citizens want a leftist government
The Socialist presidential candidate, Igor Dodon, declared in a press-conference that the results of the first round of presidential elections are very good and favorable for PSRM. Maia Sandu: I will be everyone’s president
Presidential candidate, Maia Sandu, thanked citizens who voted in the first round and asked their support in the second round on November 13. She stated in a press-conference that “In Moldova there is enough place for parties on the left and right, there is room for liberal as well as socialist visions. Iurie Leanca urges citizens to vote for Maia Sandu the second round of the presidential elections
PPEM leader Iurie Leanca held a press conference where he urged voters to vote in the second round for the presidential candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu. Mr Leanca said “ I called and congratulated Maia Sandu and told her that we are ready to help her in any way she finds useful”. // IPN
Promo-LEX reports cases of violence or intimidation of voters in polling stations
Promo-LEX observers have reported a significant number of cases of when they were prevented from freely observing elections of October 30, a doubling in the number of cases when voters voted without having their ID fully checked (including the ID accompanying sheet) by electoral bureaus’ members, as well as repeated cases of violence or intimidation of voters or other persons within polling stations. Besides this, 226 voters voted without having their IDs checked by the SIAS “Elections” operators, there were 127 cases of voting without having a stamp applied on the ID accompanying sheet, as well as another 15 cases of voting without any identity documents or with inadequate documents. // realitatea.md
Preliminary findings of international observers with regard to October 30, elections
European observers (OSCE / ODIHR, OSCE PA, PACE and European Parliament) who monitored the first round of presidential elections, consider that the elections were carried out correctly, people could freely exercise their right to vote, but there were certain drawbacks, such as imbalanced mass-media coverage of the presidential candidates, and the lack of transparency in the financing of election campaigns. Besides this, the observers mission of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS States stated that the presidential elections were free, open and competitive. // IPN
