CEC launched an appeal for voters’ rolls checking

The Central Election Commission (CEC) launched an appeal addressed to Moldovan local administration bodies and citizens to check with maximal responsibility the compilation of the voters’ rolls. The appeal says:

Humanist Party of Moldova favors the Constitution modification

The leader of the Humanist Party of Moldova (PUM), Valeriu Pasat, has called on citizens to vote for direct presidential elections in the course of September 5 referendum. PUM considers the referendum “as a first step on the road of population’s return to the power as in 2010, Moldovan deputies de facto made a “coup d’etat” and deprived citizens from the right to vote their president. It was clear this will bring to breach of democratic principles and to political system degradation”. In the times of Party of Communists ruling, when the head of the state was elected by the Parliament, “we were the witnesses of political perversions and shameful backstage dealings, as it happened on April, 4, 2005, when deputies of the so-called «anticommunist opposition» have voted the communist president”. PUM considers that the ruling Alliance for European Integration (AEI) is organizing the constitutional referendum only for opportunistic reasons, however the “September 5 referendum will become a turning point of Moldovan history. The referendum represents for PUM not only a mechanism of the actual democracy, but a component part of the ideology, which is a guidance for Christian humanists to achieve power executed directly by orthodox population”.
