The European Action Movement (MAE) announced the start of the “People’s Caravan”, during which it will inform citizens from all districts of the country about the importance of electing the future President by direct vote. MAE promotes the message “Vote for people’s President!”.
PCRM insists on the illegality of some polling stations abroad
The representative of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of Justice, appealing against the decision taken by CEC on opening additional polling stations abroad, arguing by lack of agreements with host countries and possible fraud of referendum results. In context, it should be noted that, while it disagrees with the establishment of additional stations, PCRM designated its representatives to 74 out of 78 polling stations opened outside of Moldova.

Central Electoral Commission issued several press releases regarding the organization and holding of the constitutional referendum:
Since August 16, voters may request the polling stations bureaus for voting certificates, which will enable them to express their choice in any other locality throughout the country, other than that of their domicile / residence. Voting certificates are issued upon written request of the voter, upon presentation of identity card or another identity document. However, the CEC informs that those students, who on September 5, 2010 will have no temporary visa of residence processed in the area where they carry out their studies, will be able to vote either within the locality of permanent domicile or in another polling station in the country if they requested a voting certificate.
Also since August 16, 2010 voters may verify the correctness of compiled voter lists at the bureau of polling station to which they belong. Voters have the right to file complaints against their non-inclusion on the list or exclusion from it, as well as against other committed data entry errors concerning him/herself or other voters within 5 days before the referendum, until August 30, 2010 inclusive.
CEC launched a hotline for additional information about constitutional republican referendum to be held on September 5, 2010. Those interested may call since Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 17.00 (the break is between 12.00 and 13.00), free of charge, at no. 0800 08888 from any locality of Moldova or +373 22 540488 (ordinary tariff) for citizens out of the country.
During the republican referendum a test of the electronic register of voters will be conducted in 45 polling stations in the center sector of Chisinau municipality. Within the electronic register testing framework, the personal code of voter who will participate in the experiment will be introduced in computer and the data will be directly processed at CEC.
Between 16 and 26 August 2010, the Central Electoral Commission conducts training seminars for chairmen and secretaries of all electoral bureaus of polling stations established in the country. The training seminars will address the main tasks of the polling stations bureaus and how to accomplish them.
